alea iacta est

The 11th september 2008 was the 7th anniversary of the cruel terrorist attacks in the USA. They were the start of the american fear against the middle east.
On the 20th march 2003 the USA and England attacked Iraq. This was the start of a war without any justifications. Nobody wanted it. But the fear was stronger than the prudence. I was also against it.

Novadays the election in the USA is near. A lot of people are speaking of the total withdrawal of troups as fast as possible. But this would be a great failure. Nothing is more dangerous than a abandoned nation.
This failure was made once. After Afghanistan defeated Russia the USA "forgot" to keep their promises (build up the land, money for the people,...). This is one fact why 9/11 happened.

I'm against war. But the die is cast (in german we say the die is fallen). There is no way back. The USA and their allies have to stay till everything is done. Or new hate is seeded were we already have enough of it.

Why this picture: =aksdareflection started on DeviantArt a challenge (concept + life with a dice ore die). The first thing i thought about was "alea iacta est" and the second was the political situation in the near future (new president in the USA).
The die are showing the date of invasion (20.03.2003 (XX is the roman 20)) and the amount of occupation zones (4).

Wow, you put a lot of thought in this concept. I really like it.
I must say that I was surprised when I heard on the news that it has been 7 years since 9/11. I remember it like it was yesterday. The world and the way we live has really changed because of it.

wow...in my opinion one of the best concept shots i have ever seen...congratulations!!!
:icontilar:
This concept is really good. Starting a war brings a big responsibility with it. The damage that's been cussed must be repaired. To run when things get out of hand is easy. To face the consequences is the real test. So once the dices have been cast the game must be played till the very end.
It's also strange to me that someday this war will be just another one of many in school books and Earth's history.
This is an photo that definitively makes you thing about things that are happening around you. Compliments.

It really changed. 7 years. It sounded like a bad story in 2001. Couldn't believe it till i saw it in the news.
I'm glad you like it.

wow. Your thoughts are really deep. To run away is always the easiest thing. Everything becomes history. As long as we learn from the past and make it better in the future. But it's hard for humans to learn things like peace.
Many thanks for your comment. That's what I like in photography, to get other people thinking. :D
